Lots of Swatching and New Rowan Mag 40
I swatched up my Brooks Farm Harmony yarn for the Knitted Bodice KAL starting on September 1st... I used size 5 addis and will go up one size to get the exact gauge for the pattern, but I like the fabric.
I also stopped by Knitche over the weekend and bought two skeins of the new Rowan yarns to swatch.
Here's Tapestry - I really like this one - got gauge on size 4 addis (22 sts x30 rows is the gauge.) The fabric reminds me of Kid Classic but I like the variegated nature of this yarn and it feels soft to work with. I like the Sorrel pattern in Rowan Magazine 40 (finally received it the day before yesterday!) which uses this yarn and it's on "my list" of future projects.
Here's the new Romance yarn - got gauge on size 10 bamboos. This one I'm not totally sure about - I like the color I picked out but the fabric is pretty bulky. It looks nice when knitted up but I'm not sure if it would be too scratchy to wear without anything under it.
I also bought Little Big Wool but haven't swatched that one yet. It seems like it is supposed to be a replacement for Polar, but it isn't as soft. We'll see how it knits up.
On Rowan Mag 40, I was surprised at how heavily they featured a (somewhat) older but one of my favorite yarns, Kid Classic. There's a great pattern called Aelf that I really like.
Cute huh?

What lovely yarn colors. In response to your question regarding working with the Elann, Highland Silk. It feels a lot like knitting with standard worsted weight wool, such as Cascade 220. I am extremely pleased with Elann.com. This was my first order with them. Their prices were reasonable and they shipped quickly. Until a yarn has been washed and worn several times it's really hard to give a full two-thumbs up though.
